Gymnastics in Vanuatu

VANUATU – THE STORY SO FAR….

In 2019 Nancy Miyake attended Kindergym Coach training in Australia and will take the learnings back to Vanuatu to introduce programs for pre-school children.

Earlier in 2019, a generous donation of secondhand gymnastics equipment was made by Gold Coast Gymnastics Club from Queensland Australia. The equipment including uneven bars, a beam and spring board has been transported to Vanuatu and has been put to good use.

An Australian expert development visit to Vanuatu was undertaken later in 2019 to conduct coach and teacher training and to introduce gymnastics to children and youth. Childcare staff, early childhood teachers, sports coaches and youth workers attended the training and continue to undertake online training and Zoom practical training with experts from Australia.

Nancy Miyake has introduced Gymnastics for All programs at the newly established Messy Haos in Port Vila “a dedicated place for families and children to play, discover and grow together.” Classes for children from walking through to teenagers are on offer, with plenty of exciting equipment and passionate coaches.

FreeG programs will also be introduced at Wan Smolbag as a pathway to Parkour and other extreme sports. Wan Smolbag – a non-profit organisation focused on youth.
